Coelacanth

Coelecanthus ,hollow spine friend of old Great grandfather of mammals without bones How did you survive all these years Seeing time did a number on all your peers Share with me your secrets  So that I too may learn  that to live long and to survive  requires no more than a rudimentary brain And a tube of oil for a spine

To walk and to go slow

Once there was nothingness I traipsed and staggered and shot out like a courser Now, the terrain has luxuriant growth So hold my hand and beat the path  If I fall here, teach me that there is no disgrace Lend to me aid and help me learn, To walk and to go slow  The perils ahead test my composure, still my heart  I beg of you ford the river, I cannot swim  Once in the boat row it and sit me down  And once at the shore, if I am delirious with the nightmares Wipe my cheeks and with gentle chidings wake me up

Every day is a punishment

Learn, my children  to choose your words well Punishment follows those who do not learn to spell They live a life of drudgery and die whilst still unwell Worse awaits those who earn to spell only to write poor letters They die alone

Heart ache

My baby gives me heart trouble, I give her headache My baby gives me heart trouble, I give her headache My baby gives me heart trouble, I give her a headache Sometimes it murmurs, sometimes it races At other times it shoots off a searing pain It's walls were once impregnable Now it is free estate

How am I to spend this monsoon?

It starts in the pit of my stomach And reins in the heart Which once subdued  Makes it reign supreme Now, it is unamenable to reason Please do ask of it, to leave you in peace Though given it's string of victories it is unlikely  I urge you to persist though I am sure it will reply  If you ask with sincerity, "How am I to spend this monsoon? "
